New Arsenal signing Shkrodran Mustafi has revealed that Mesut Ozil convinced him to join the Gunners.

The north London outfit are set to officially announce the signing of Mustafi in the coming days, and he will complete a £35million move from Valencia to become the third most expensive defender of all time.

Sky Sports Germany spoke to the 24-year-old ahead of the international break this coming week and Mustafi has said that Ozil told him everything about the club.

“I have spoken with Mesut, he told me everything,” Mustafi told the German outlet, before using German slang to describe Arsenal as a great club.

“It was all very positive and I was quickly convinced, because I find the club horny.”

Injuries to club captain Per Mertesacker and Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Paulista have forced Arsene Wenger’s hand into a move for defensive reinforcements before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday night.

However, if Mustafi is to get into the first team and partner the hugely impressive Laurent Koscielny, he will have to dislodge Rob Holding, who has put in two exemplarily performances away to Leicester City and Watford.

Wenger told the Standard: “It was an outstanding performance [from Holding]. I’m happy that you noticed that,” when he was asked whether the youngster would keep his starting role after the international break.

In other Arsenal transfer news, Stan Collymore has urged this Premier League star to shave his head and move to the Gunners.
