Tom and Jerry, Ant and Dec, the Two Ronnies, there have been some great double acts over the years.
But perhaps another duo are about to be added to that exclusive list? Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford!
Suffice to say it kicked off last night. England took on Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier and despite the WAG’s watching from the sidelines, the handbag’s came out on the pitch too.
Young sensation Rashford was squared up to and pushed in the throat by rival player Aljaz Struna.
And then a beautiful thing happened, an unbreakable friendship was forged. Lingard immediately pounced to the aid of the United sensation like Scrappy Do after a criminal.
It took just the causally extended right-arm of Eric Dier to hold him back, but the intention was there from Lingard.
The young winger is famed for his off-field relationship with Paul Pogba but now it seems a new ‘bromance’ is forming.
Here is a classic little clip of their friendship blossoming at Old Trafford.
I’m sure Rashford will claim he could handle himself, but it must warm his heart to know if Lingard ever gets a game for England again (which is unlikely) he’ll have support if a fight goes down.
