Newcastle’s Euro 2016 star Mohamed Sissoko could be set to return to the Magpies starting line-up against Huddersfield this Saturday.
The attacker has been desperate to leave St. James’ Park this summer following Newcastle’s relegation from the Premier League last term, and has been recently interesting Champions League winners Real Madrid.
The former Toulouse star has resumed training on Tyneside this week and could return to Rafa Benitez’s starting line-up as the former Real Madrid manager looks to avoid a second Championship defeat.
The Chronicle’s Chief Sports Writer Lee Ryder posted on his Instagram page a short video, outlining that he believes Sissoko has a job to do. He could be one of two changes that Benitez makes after losing 1-0 to Fulham last Friday.
Newcastle could change shape to incorporate Sissoko, while also welcoming Mohamed Diame into the starting line-up. The former Hull midfielder was signed too late to be involved last Friday.
Elsewhere, the defence is expected to remain the same as captain Jamaal Lascelles partners Grant Hanley, while new signings Matz Sels, Isaac Hayden and Matt Ritchie all look set to keep their places.
New defender Ciaran Clark is unlikely to break the partnership formed by Lascelles and Hanley, while other new recruit Jesus Gamez is likely to remain on the bench.
Dwight Gayle could make way for Diame, as Ayoze Perez looks to spearhead the Magpies’ attack for a second time.
In other Newcastle team news, captain Lascelles has described this one important change on Tyneside.
