Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons was arrested on Saturday morning following a 3am nightclub brawl – and Toon fans have taken to Twitter to compare him to former troublemaker Nile Ranger.

The Sun have reported that Aarons, 20, allegedly went berserk when a group of men started “bumping and grinding” with his auntie on the dance floor.

Aarons was among four people locked up for alleged violent conduct. He was not hurt and has been released on police bail.

The youngster has not featured for the Toon since a Capital One Cup clash against Cheltenham on 23rd August after breaking a bone in his foot during the tie, which is reported to have put him out for eight weeks.

Fans were understandably unhappy that their injured player was involved in a nightclub brawl while injured, and some took to social media to compare him to former striker and troublesome youngster Ranger.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Ranger, 25, now at Southend in League One spent five years at Newcastle between 2008 and 2013.

Once considered a bright prospect, the former England Under-19 international was involved in a number of incidents off the pitch, which included two arrests and two charges before being released in March 2013.

Fans will now be hoping that Aarons doesn’t follow the same path as Ranger, with the former signing a new five-year deal in the summer.

In other Newcastle team news, Rafa Benitez has revealed that defender Jesus Gamez will not return to face Rotherham on Saturday.
