Newcastle are closing in on their sixth summer signing of the summer with Grant Hanley from Blackburn – and their fans took to Twitter to discuss the signing of the Scotland international.

Football Insider reported on Wednesday morning that defender Grant Hanley is close to making a move to St James’ Park.

The Magpies have had several offers for the £8million-rated defender rejected by his club, as championship rivals Norwich have alson shown interest in the player, but it is reported that the north-east club have had a breakthrough in securing the signature of their long-term target.

The Toon conceded 65 goals last term as they were relegated into the second tier of English football for the second time in seven years.

Benitez has already completed the signings of defensive duo Matz Sels and Jesus Gamez this summer, as well as Isaac Hayden, Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle further up the pitch.

Lots of Newcastle fans have reacted positively to the news of Hanley’s impending signing, as it follows a series of early signings as they look to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time.

In other Newcastle transfer news, the Toon have delivered a warning to Premier League big-boys Liverpool by insisting that they won’t sell Georginio Wijnaldum for less than he is worth.
