There has been a mixed response from Newcastle fans on Twitter after it was reported that Rafa Benitez has enquired about a loan deal for Chelsea winger Christian Atsu.
The 24-year-old has yet to feature for Chelsea after spending last season at Bournemouth and Malaga on loan.
Sky Sports’ north-east correspondent Keith Downie has revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Magpies have enquired after Atsu, who is “one of a number of players” the Championship club are looking at.
@SkySports_Keith left footed right winter. We need a right footed left winger haha

According to the Shields Gazette, the 42-time Ghana international is also interesting Serie A side Torino. The former Porto winger signed for Chelsea back in 2013 for £3.5million, but hasn’t made a single appearance for the club.
Newcastle fans are not sure it’s a good move, with many citing his injury history and the fact that he’ll likely play for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations, leaving him unavailable in the winter months.
Here are a selection of Tweets from Newcastle fans.

Seen a bit of Atsu. Quick, can go by a player, but end product is poor. Don't get me wrong-think I'd take any winger right now! #NUFC

Atsu is an interesting one. Didn't see much of him at Bournemouth #nufc

Since we've been linked with Atsu about 45mins ago seems most #NUFC fans are experts on the kid. He's never been mentioned before now man

Atsu, who was voted the Best Player of the African Cup of Nations in 2015, made just 12 appearances in total for both Bournemouth and Malaga last term after suffering a stress fracture to his shin.
The 44-time Ghana international has less than two years remaining on his Stamford Bridge contract.
In other Newcastle transfer news, this centre-midfielder is expected to leave after Olympiacos entered £2million talks.
