Newcastle fans believe on Twitter that they have enough strength upfront to cope with top scorer Dwight Gayle’s possible absence ahead of the Preston clash on Saturday.
The 26-year-old, who signed from Crystal Palace in the summer has been in impressive form for the Toon scoring 11 goals in 13 appearances.
However, manager Rafa Benitez revealed that the striker was a “big doubt” in his press conference before the clash, which could see Newcastle without their star forward.

The Newcastle squad also boasts forward trio Aleksandar Mitrovic, Daryl Murphy and Ayoze Perez and fans on social media believe that the club are well prepared for Gayle’s injury.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Why worry about Gayle? We have plenty people to replace him. Not like last season when we had no cover for anywhere. Come on Mitro ?? #NUFC

Not having this negativity about Gayle injury. Not ideal but Rafa has put together a squad. Plenty of more than capable replacements #nufc

After Tuesday night I am not sure PNE will take any comfort in Gayle's suggested absence. #nufc

It's a shame Gayle is injured but we have plenty of goal scorers. Mitro or Perez can do a job. #NUFC

Newcastle thrashed their Saturday opponents 6-0 in midweek in the EFL Cup, which saw Gayle remain on the bench as an unused substitute.
Mitrovic and attacking midfielder Mo Diame scored two goals each, while Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez also got on the score sheet.
Newcastle currently sit three points clear at the top of the Championship table and they will be looking to extend their lead at Deepdale.
However, Simon Grayson’s side are sat in ninth and they will be likely to put up more of a fight in the league than they had done in the cup.
In other Newcastle news, Stan Collymore has made this huge prediction about the North East outfit.
