The EFL selected it’s team of the week following the weekend fixtures – and Newcastle fans were disappointed on Twitter that Jonjo Shelvey did not feature in it.
Toon team-mate Dwight Gayle was named after scoring two goals against Brentford in his side’s 3-1 victory.
However, Shelvey was another star of the match with his two assists helping Newcastle to their comfortable win.
Fans of the famous north east club were left questioning the selection process on social media with the absence of the England international from the team.
Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolahan, Exeter’s Jake Taylor and Romuald Boco from Accrington were all selected in the midfield ahead of Shelvey.

Shelvey, 24, completed a £12million move to Newcastle from Swansea in January.
He has made 13 appearances for the club in the new campaign, scoring three goals and providing five assists with Newcastle sat in second place in England’s second tier following the win over Brentford.
They will travel to Oakwell to face recently promoted Barnsley in midweek, with the Yorkshire side currently sat in 11th place.
