Premier League side West Brom have offered Callum McManaman plus cash for Newcastle attacking midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to a reliable journalist.

Graeme Bailey, who formerly spent 12 years working as a senior reporter for Sky Sports, has claimed on his personal Twitter account that West Brom have made an approach for Sissoko ahead of the deadline-day cut-off at 11pm on Wednesday.

Sissoko has been keen to exit St James’ Park following Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship last season and Bailey suggests Baggies manager Tony Pulis wants to offer him an instant return to the Premier League.

Sissoko, 27, starred for his national side at this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament and played a key role in getting his side to the final, but he has not made an appearance for Rafa Benitez’s side in the new campaign.

The 44-time capped international has been linked with a number of leading European clubs this summer, but they have been unwilling to meet Newcastle’s £35million valuation of the player.

Sissoko still has three years left on his contract, meaning that the Magpies aren’t under pressure to sell a player who would stand out in England’s second division, but West Brom could tempt them into a sale with the offer of a cash plus a player.

Newcastle have also reportedly shown an interest in 25-year-old Baggies winger McManaman. The Mail claimed on Monday that Newcastle had opened talks with West Brom over a move for the attacker.

McManaman also hasn’t featured for his side in the new campaign and his future at The Hawthorns is looking in considerable doubt in the final hours of the window.

In other Newcastle transfer news, midfielder Cheick Tiote could move to the Russian Premier League with Anzhi Makhachkala in a £1.8million deal.
