Brendan Galloway could complete a loan move from Everton to Newcastle by the end of the week, according to a report.

The Chronicle report that Newcastle want to tie up a deal for the 20-year-old defender by Sunday.

The report details that Rafa Benitez is targeting three new players in addition to Galloway before the window closes, as Newcastle continue their summer overhaul of players following their relegation to the Championship.

Benitez wants to tie up a deal for Galloway in the coming days despite interest from Middlesbrough, who need to add another defender to their ranks.

The Chronicle claimed last week that the Everton left-back is set to join on an initial loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Newcastle’s current left-back option Paul Dummett is currently being scouted by Premier League club West Brom according to the Chronicle, as Tony Pulis targets a new defensive option.

Galloway impressed after breaking into the Toffees’ first-team during the early part of last season under Roberto Martinez.

The youngster made 19 appearances for the club as he filled in impressively at left-back while Leighton Baines and Bryan Oviedo were injured.

But with both of those players now vying for a first-team spot, Galloway’s chances of adding to his experience appears limited.

Galloway came through the ranks at MK Dons where he made his senior debut aged 15 in the FA Cup first round to become the club’s youngest-ever player.

He moved to Everton in 2014 and signed a new five-year contract last December but could now become Newcastle’s latest addition.

In other Newcastle transfer news, they are plotting a move for a 24-goal striker.
