Ayoze Perez has insisted he is preparing to return to Newcastle despite reports claming the striker is on his way out of St James’ Park.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old and it is claimed that Newcastle are ready to cash in on their Spaniard.
Perez will taste Championship football next season for the first time, but revealed he was committed to helping Newcastle return to the top flight.
“I have a contract [with Newcastle] until 2021, I was part of the relegation and I am preparing to return my best,” said Perez speaking to Spanish publication El Dia, as translated by the Newcastle Chronicle.
“It was not a good year collectively or individually, but I scored some goals.
“You have to take the positives and think about what’s coming.
“It’s going to be tough but in your career, a player must always jump over obstacles.”
Newcastle are reportedly prepared to let Perez exit this summer but only if they get an offer of £10million with a sell-on clause for the young former Spanish Under-21 player.
Questions have been raised about the youngster’s suitability for the physicality of the Championship.
Now a host of Premier League clubs are ready to make a move for the youngster who joined from Tenerife for £1.5million in the summer of 2014.
Perez starred in 37 games across all competitions for Newcastle in the recently completed season, but he was unable to stop the club from suffering relegation.
