Newcastle are eyeing a move for Arsenal starlet Isaac Hayden, according to a report.

Tyneside newspaper The Shields Gazette has reported that the versatile 21-year-old is on the radar of Rafael Benitez after he impressed on loan at Hull in the recently completed domestic season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly willing to let Hayden leave London on loan again.

Primarily played as a defensive midfielder during his time at the Tigers, Hayden can also play at centre-back and right-back and this versatility is attractive to Benitez.

Long-serving defender Steven Taylor has left Newcastle while there are also question marks over the future of fellow veteran Fabricio Coloccini, who is about to enter the final year of his deal with the club.

Hayden’s versatility could be what Benitez is looking for to replace the departing defenders from his squad.

The Arsenal man has played four times for the England Under-20 team, as well as representing his country at Under-19, Under-18, Under-17 and Under-16 level.

The defensive midfielder starred in 24 games for the Tigers across all competitions in the recently completed season, although he was unable to play against his parent club,as Hull drew and were eventually knocked out in the FA Cup fifth round replay against Arsenal.

In other Newcastle news, a Tottenham attacker has been targeted by Benitez.
