Nigel Pearson has been banished from Derby’s match against Cardiff on Tuesday night – and the Nottingham Forest fans have been quick to mock their rivals on Twitter.

Derby have released a statement on their official website revealing that their manager will not be carrying out his duties for the away trip to Cardiff.

The statement details that assistant manager Chris Powell will take charge instead for the Championship fixture.

Derby refused to comment further on why Pearson has been dismissed and will turn their attention to an important fixture with fellow strugglers Cardiff.

The Derby Telegraph claim that Pearson has been suspended pending an internal investigation and he held a meeting with the club’s owner and chairman Mel Morris on Monday afternoon.

The Rams have started the season in poor form under Pearson, who was appointed in the summer, and have just one league victory in their opening nine games.
