Crystal Palace have been installed as odds-on favourites to sign Jack Wilshere by Wednesday night.

Arsenal’s midfielder is 1/6 with betting company SkyBet to join Palace before the transfer window closes in 24 hours.

West Ham had been listed as favourites on Tuesday morning to sign the 24-year-old but London rivals Palace have jumped ahead to be in pole position with the bookmakers.

Wilshere is now a distant 7/1 to remain at the Emirates in this window as the chances increase that he will complete a loan move by the transfer window cut-off.

Italian duo Roma and Juventus are both considered 14/1 options whilst Bournemouth and Celtic are priced a little longer at 16/1.

The market has been opened on Wilshere after a number of publications, including Sky Sports on their transfer centre blog on Monday (10:27pm), reported that the midfielder would be allowed to leave on loan.

The Mirror claimed that Palace have shown their interest in Wilshere and Selhurst Park now seems his most likely destination.

He has an extensive injury record dating back to 2009 when he suffered the first of many serious ankle injuries.

Despite having a minor knee injury in pre-season, Wilshere has recovered to be on the substitute’s bench for each of Arsenal’s three Premier League matches this season.

He has played 37 minutes, including the last 20 of Saturday’s 3-1 win at Watford, but has slipped behind Granit Xhaka, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsey in the pecking order for central midfield places at Emirates Stadium.

The former Bolton loanee has been sidelined throughout his career for 890 days, missing out on 154 matches for the Gunners.
