Osvaldo Ardiles has taken to Twitter to praise the Tottenham deadline-day signings as “exciting”.

Spurs made five signings this summer as manager Mauricio Pochettino strengthened his squad.

Last season the North London club enjoyed a fantastic league campaign and finished third, which means they will be competing in this season’s Champions League campaign.

Deadline-day signings Moussa Sissoko, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Pau Lopez joined the club’s other two new faces Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen.

Tottenham legend Ardiles, who spent 10 year at White Hart Lane during the 1980s, has revealed on his personal Twitter account his delight with the club’s transfer business and labelled the players as “exciting”.

Ardiles was a member of an attacking and fluent Spurs side and Pochettino has introduced an eye-catching style to the latest crop of players.

The former Southampton manager is renown for coaching teams that are full of high intensity and produce good passing football, something that the latest additions will have to buy into if they are to be a success.

Sissoko can be expected to light up White Hart Lane if he can reproduce the form he showed with France at Euro 2016.

Meanwhile the quality of N’Koudou are unknown in the English football but he will compete with Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Dele Alli for a starting position.

The new striker Janssen has been purchased to provide competition for Harry Kane and is still settling into the Premier League, after moving from Dutch side AZ for Spurs.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Jose Mourinho blocked the club’s deadline-day move for Morgan Schneiderlin.
