Paul McGrath has expressed his delight on Twitter after Aston Villa beat Fulham 1-0 in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Striker Jonathan Kodjia scored a magnificent scissor kick late into the second-half to help Steve Bruce’s men secure back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

The Midlands club had previously registered a late 2-1 win at Reading on Tuesday night, and recently-appointed manager Bruce is now unbeaten in his first three games in charge.

Former Villa centre-back and club legend McGrath was pleased with the club’s victory and the performance of Kodjia, as he provided his verdict on his personal Twitter account.

Ivory Coast international Kodjia moved to Villa Park from Championship rivals Bristol City for a fee which could rise to £15 million, depending on performances.

He has scored four goals in nine games for the Midlands side, and has found the net in his last three games for new manager Bruce.

As a result Villa are 16th in the Championship, with 17 points from their 14 games, and they have now recorded three wins and eight draws with three losses.

Villa travel to St Andrews to take on their fierce rivals Birmingham next Sunday in an eagerly anticipated second City derby.

In other Aston Villa team news, midfielder Gary Gardner expressed his delight on Twitter after his side recorded a 1-0 win against Fulham.
