Paul Merson believes that Tottenham’s Eric Dier will find it difficult against Arsenal.
The 22-year-old has been used as an emergency centre-back in recent games and is expected to continue their on Sunday.
Spurs face an away match against Arsenal on Sunday in the Premier League and are without several key players.
Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that senior figures Toby Alderweireld, Moussa Sissoko, Erik Lamela and Ben Davies will all miss the clash, with Mousa Dembele also considered doubtful.
They have recieved the boost that Kane will be in the squad against the Gunners and could make his return after a 10-game layout with injury.
Former Arsenal player Merson claims that Dier will find it difficult to handle Alexis Sanchez, who has scored eight goals in his 14 appearances this season.
“The other thing that worries me about Spurs is Eric Dier,” Merson wrote in the Daily Star. “He’s too casual. He has that holding midfielder stroll now. That’s okay when you’re playing midfield and you need to show composure.
“But you can’t play like that as a centre-half. If he plays there against Arsenal I don’t fancy him against Sanchez.”
Spurs are currently without a win in their last six games in all competitions and have scored just three goals in that time.
Regular defender Alderweireld has missed five of those games with a knee injury and Dier has been selected to partner Jan Vertonghen in his absence.
The England international predominately plays as a defensive midfielder, but has played as a defender earlier in his career.
He excelled in the Spurs midfield last season as they mounted a title challenge and cemented his side in the England national team in that position.
Spurs are still the unbeaten side in the Premier League despite the recent dip of form and will hope to extend that record against bitter rivals Arsenal.
