Former Everton captain Phil Neville has named Ronald Koeman as the Toffees signing of the summer on Twitter.

The former Southampton boss has hit the ground running at Goodison Park, taking the Merseyside giants to second place in the Premier League table after four domestic wins and a draw against Tottenham.

Neville, 39, revealed on his personal Twitter account that he believes the Dutch manager was the best piece of summer business by Everton chiefs, ahead of the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Idrissa Gueye and Maarten Stekelenburg.

Everton’s impeccable start to the new campaign was tarnished on Tuesday night as Championship side Norwich beat a reshuffled Everton side by two goals to nil in the third round of the EFL Cup.

However, Koeman’s Everton sit just one place behind league leaders Manchester City after picking up maximum points against West Brom, Sunderland, Stoke and Middlesbrough.

The Toffees will be hoping to continue their fine form on Saturday as they take on Eddie Howe’s ambitious Bournemouth side, who have won just once all season.

The former Manchester United utility player is currently in Spain working as Valencia’s assistant manager, as the Spanish giants look to overturn a dismal start to their La Liga campaign which has seen them fail to win a single point from four games.
