Piers Morgan pointed the finger of blame firmly at Arsene Wenger in the wake of Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to an inexperienced Manchester United team on Sunday.

The celebrity Arsenal supporter, who is an open critic of the Gunners manager, sent a series of Tweets criticising Wenger’s ability to inspire the team.

He said the Frenchman should be sacked as manager after the London giants followed up Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Barcelona with Sunday’s setback at Old Trafford.

Morgan claimed that Arsenal’s title challenge is over at the end of a weekend that leaves them five points adrift of leaders Leicester and three points behind second-placed Tottenham.

Wenger’s side are also facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals following a 2-0 home defeat in the first leg of their last-16 tie against holders Barca.
