Mauricio Pochettino has told the media that reports linking Tottenham with a move for Sergio Aguero are “100% not true.”

Spanish publication Don Balon claimed that the north London club were waiting for the green light to make a stunning swoop for the player, who joined City in a £38million deal from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

However, the Argentine manager has told reporters that there isn’t anything in these claims, as reported by Hackney Gazette journalist Ben Pearce on his personal Twitter account.

Pochettino is currently short upfront without star man Harry Kane, but it is assumed that City wouldn’t let Aguero go to a divisional rival and his wages plus transfer fee would cost too much.

The 28-year-old fellow Argentine started the season in great form with 11 goals in his first six matches in all competitions.

However, he hasn’t scored since September 24th during 3-1 victory over Swansea, which has left him with six matches without a goal.

He will still be considered one of the star’s of Pep Guardiola’s league leaders and he is arguably the best centre forward in the Premier League.

Spurs remain one point behind league leaders City, as they prepare to welcome Premier League champions Leicester at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

In other Tottenham news, this fringe Spurs star could be set to leave White Hart Lane in the summer.
