Mauricio Pochettino claims he is not concerned by Chelsea’s dominance and is still confident his team can haul them back in and win the league title.

Tottenham recorded a close 2-1 victory over Burnley on Sunday afternoon but are still 10 points off Chelsea who lead the Premier League.

Antonio Conte’s side continued their impressive winning streak, recording a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday and have confirmed their position at the top of the table for the Christmas period.

Asked whether he was concerned about the gap Chelsea had over Tottenham, Pochettino claimed there was plenty of time for Spurs to make up the points and compared their position to last season.

“No. It’s true that we have a 10 point gap with Chelsea. But in football anything can happen,” said Pochettino, as reported by the Mirror.

“There are lots of games to play. Not only because last season was a similar gap with Leicester, eight or nine points in that period. I think our position is good.”

Tottenham’s victory was just their fourth in the last 10 matches and they have closed the gap on a top four spot, moving within one point of rivals Arsenal.

The Gunners suffered a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday meaning Tottenham have an opportunity to return to the top four before the end of the year should they claim victory against Southampton and Arsenal drop further points.

Last season, Tottenham mounted a strong title challenge and reeled Leicester in to just a two-point gap in February, but their challenge fizzled out towards the end of the campaign and they eventually finished in third place, 11 points behind Leicester City.
