Potential new Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani was pictured in the Elland Road stands during the club’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday.

The Follow Me And LUFC blog shared an image on its Twitter account of the Italian mogul in an executive box at the stadium.

Businessman Radrizzani was spotted alongside an associate in the West Stand of Elland Road and was close to Leeds accounts man Richard Umbers.

More than 36,000 people were in attendance as Leeds recorded their biggest crowd of the season but the bespectacled Radrizzani was clearly visible as Garry Monk’s side succumbed to defeat against the Championship leaders.

Italian Radrizzani’s presence at Elland Road comes after reports in recent months linking him with buying the Yorkshire giants from unpopular owner and countryman Massimo Cellino.

He also posted a message on his personal Twitter account last week that suggested talks are at an advanced stage.

“One step closer, but need more time,” Radrizzani said, accompanied by an image of two hands clasped together.

Leeds fans are keen to find out more information about the talks and how close Radrizzani is to completing a takeover of one of English football’s biggest clubs.

Monk’s side are seventh in the Championship with 26 points from 17 matches following Sunday’s defeat to Newcastle, who climbed five points clear at the top of the table.

Leeds are only one point adrift of a play-off spot but the match against Rafael Benitez’s high flyers highlighted the difference in quality between the two sides.

In other Leeds news, the club are closing in on a £3.6million January signing.
