Football Insider names Tottenham’s young player of the year for 2016.
Since Mauricio Pochettino moved to England in 2013 the Argentine manager has developed a number of young players into senior internationals.
One of his huge successes has been 20-year-old Dele Alli, who was named the PFA Young Player of the Year in April, while also making the PFA Team of the Year.
The attacking midfielder was relatively unknown before making the move from League One side MK Dons to White Hart Lane for £5million in 2015.
However, his performances over the past year have seen him rise up to become a household name and if he continues with his success he has the potential to become a football superstar.
He is now regarded as one of Europe’s hottest prospects and there were recent reports linking him to cash rich Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain.
But, he has since quashed those rumours and has told that he is staying at Tottenham, where he has made the attacking midfield position his own.
Alli was pivotal to Spurs finishing in a high third placed position in the last campaign, but he has started the new campaign slowly and it looks like he will see out 2016 in worse form then he started it with.
However, the 15-time capped England international will be sure to recapture the form which has seen him rise to stardom and he will be looking to start 2017 in as fine form as he started 2016.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs’ £20million bid for this player has hit a stumbling block.
