Ajax forward Arkaduisz Milik is on the verge of joining Napoli, according to a report.

The Liverpool Echo reported that Everton were lining up the striker earlier this month after missing out on Graziano Pelle.

Dutch publication De Telegraaf report that Ajax are set to accept a bid of over £29.2million for Milik from Napoli, who will replace Gonzalo Higuain after he joined Juventus for £75.3million in the third most expensive deal in football history.

Milik, 22, scored an impressive 21 goals last season as Ajax finished runners-up to PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.

He has already made an impression on the international scene, striking up a formidable partnership with Robert Lewandowski and bagging six goals in nine games during Poland’s successful Euro 2016 qualification.

He continued his good form at the main competition this summer and scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Northern Ireland during the group stages.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is in the market for a forward and the club’s top-scorer from last season Romelu Lukaku wants a reunion with Chelsea according to the Sun.

Koeman may have a ready-made replacement in his squad in Gerard Deulofeu and he grabbed a second consecutive goal during the pre-season, much to the delight of fans on Twitter.

In other Everton transfer news, they have stepped up their pursuit of a first major signing this summer by meeting midfielder’s release clause.
