Joe Garner was named in the Rangers line-up against St Johnstone – and the Gers’ supporters were pleased with the decision on Twitter.

Mark Warburton has made four changes to his team from the side that lost 1-0 to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

Gilks, Kenny Miller, James Tavernier and Barrie McKay have been dropped by Warburton and have been named on the substitute’s bench.

Garner, Wes Foderingham, Michael O’Halloran, and Harry Forrester have come into the side and will hope to make a good impression.

Garner, 28, has made just seven appearances for the club scoring one goal following his summer move from Championship side Preston.

Now named in the line-up for Wednesday’s Premiership clash fans are excited to see what he can do on social media.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Garner moved to Rangers in the summer and was purchased to provided back-up for star striker Martyn Waghorn.

He scored just six goals in 44 appearances for his former Lancashire club last season, but it was in their promotion season to the Championship where he excelled scoring 27 goals in 43 fixtures.
