Football Insider rates the Rangers players after Mark Warburton’s side lost 2-0 to Hearts at Tynecastle on Wednesday night, in the Scottish Premiership.

Wes Foderingham – 7 Looked commanding in the Gers goal with a number of saves. Could do nothing about Hearts’ goals, and could have been sent off for handling outside the area.

James Tavernier – 6 A steady performance on the right side of defence for Tavernier, but was unable to get forward as much as he would have liked.

Danny Wilson 5 – Wilson struggled with the pace of Hearts strikers Arnaud Djoum and Bjorn Johnson. Won a number of headers but unfit.

Rob Kiernan 5 – Failed to cope when put under pressure by the Hearts front line, was completely dumbfounded by Johnson’s flick in the build-up to Hearts’ opener.

Lee Wallace 5 – Came up against an in-form Callum Paterson on the flank but the Gers captain coped well without being exciting. Went missing for Hearts’ second goal.

Andy Halliday – 8 Best man in a blue shirt on the night, as he calmed down proceedings with a number of intricate passes and ability to win possession and keep it safely.

Matt Crooks – 6 Was second best in a number of tackles that saw him earn a first-half yellow card. Off the pace but showed glimpses of quality.

Jason Holt – 5 Failed to get involved, was a passenger throughout the first half.

Kenny Miller – 6 Still being played out of position on the left flank, Hearts star Paterson was comfortable in keeping the Scotland international at bay.

Joe Dodoo – 6 Disappointing performance as the Gers attacking spearhead, as he struggled to make the ball stick with Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner looking on from the bench. Unlucky to have goal disallowed.

Harry Forrester – 7 The only Gers players to produce any kind of ingenuity or creativity throughout the match, as he tricked his was through a solid Hearts defence without an end product.

Subs:

Michael O’Halloran (for Forrester, 60 mins) 6

Barrie McKay (for Dodoo, 66 mins) 7

Joe Garner (for Crooks 66 mins) 7
