Khalid Aucho’s agent has accused Gor Mahia of trying to sabotage the midfielder’s move to Rangers.
In response, the Kenyan club have staunchly denied Geoffrey Kavemba’s claims about his client and insisted Aucho is merely going on trial with Rangers.
Aucho claimed on Thursday that a deal to join Rangers was all but done, but the stance of his current employers is that the Uganda international has jumped the gun with his comments.
Kavemba has slammed Gor Mahia for refusing to grant Aucho a release letter which he says Rangers are demanding before any deal can be finalised.
“They have declined to provide my client with the release letter and yet they are aware of the entire deal.”
Gor Mahia hit back at the allegations when speaking to South African media outlet Supersport.com and insisted they have not been informed of any impending transfer.
Club chairman Ambrose Rachier admitted Aucho had told him of the interest from Rangers, but said the 22-year-old has only mentioned the opportunity of a trial with the Scottish club.
“We do not know the agent and I am surprised by his sentiments,” said Rachier. “As a club we can never deny a player any opportunity to progress. Aucho called me on Wednesday and I instructed Ronald Ngala to give him a letter allowing him to go for trials until June 25th.
“We are also requesting the agent to avail to us the letter from Rangers so that we can have it in our files.
“Aucho told me he is going for trials and we have allowed him and wish him the best in the trials.
“As a club we seek ways of ensuring players get opportunities but it’s also important to follow laid down procedures.”
Aucho, a combative midfielder who can play as a defender, has continued his fine form for Gor, helping them maintain their slim lead at the top of the Kenyan national league table.
Gor claimed four wins from four games with Aucho scoring one goal and providing one assist on his way to being crowned the best player in league for the month of May.
