Ray Wilkins hailed Mousa Dembele as “exceptional” after his man of the match display for Tottenham in Sunday’s north London derby.
Dembele recovered from a hamstring problem to play a key role in Spurs 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
He controlled the midfield with partner Victor Wanyama and won the 51st minute penalty that was converted by Harry Kane to seal a point for the visitors.
Wilkins revealed his admiration of the Belgium international in the wake of the match.
“I think Dembele is a super player, I really do,” the former Chelsea and Aston Villa assistant manager told talkSPORT’s live coverage of the match. “He is an exceptional midfielder and was the outstanding player on the pitch against Arsenal.”
Spurs have now not won in seven matches, and have failed to triumph in the league since beating Manchester City on 2 October, but they impressed at Emirates Stadium in the absence of key men Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Toby Alderweireld.
