A Liverpool team including four senior stars thrashed Bradford 5-0 in a behind-closed-doors clash, according to a reliable journalist.

Express reporter Paul Joyce revealed on his personal Twitter account that Loris Karius, James Milner, Emre Can and Danny Ings all featured in the friendly match.

Joyce reported that Karius, Can and Ings all played the full 90 minutes against the League One side.

Ings maintained his fine scoring form with two goals, which were supplemented by a Milner penalty and goals from Can and rookie forward Yan Dhanda.

Can, Ings and Karius did not get international call-ups after spending the opening two months of the season on the fringes of the Liverpool side, while Milner has retired from England duty.

Ings has been a regular scorer for Liverpool Under-23s this season but he has made only one substitute appearance for the senior side.

Karis has displaced Simon Mignolet in the first team for the last three matches played by Jurgen Klopp’s side after recovering from a hand injury sustained in pre-season.

Can has started only one match for Liverpool in 2016-17 after struggling with a niggling ankle injury in the early weeks of the campaign.

The Merseysiders’ next fixture is on Monday week when they host Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League.

In other Liverpool team news, a senior star is facing a race against time to be fit for the United clash.
