Aarons, 20, has been hampered by injury in his short career to date and has only made 17 appearances for the senior side since his debut in 2014 under Alan Pardew.
The Newcastle winger has slowly been breaking into the first-team and grabbed his first Premier League goal on the final day of the 2015-16 season in the 5-1 drubbing of Tottenham.
Rafa Benitez looks set to hand Aarons an important role this season and used him as a second-half substitute against Fulham during the team’s opening day 1-0 defeat in the Championship.
With the club’s new signing Matt Ritchie expected to be a main player for Newcastle this season it will leave Aarons to battle for a starting place with the likes of Isaac Hayden, Vernon Anita and Jack Colback.
Young goalkeeper Freedie Woodman has already agreed a new four-year deal at the club this summer and Benitez looks keen to keep youngsters in his squad.
The highly-rated youngster is yet to play for the Newcastle first team, but he has made a number of appearances on the bench.
