Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne’s agent is pushing for talks with Liverpool to help end his stay in Naples, according to a report.
The Daily Star has claimed that the 25-year-old has seen negotiations over a new contract with the Italian club stall because of his high wage demands of £100,000 a week.
It is said that the breakdown means the player’s agent will contact Liverpool this week in the hope of getting his man a January move to Anfield.
It is reported that manager Jurgen Klopp has shown interest in Insigne in the past and that he is now looking to add attacking reinforcements to his squad.
However, Napoli want £44million for the Italy international, which would surpass the Reds’ transfer record with summer signing Sadio Mane joining the club for £36million.
Insigne has played in 11 encounters for his club in the new campaign, but was jeered by his own fans following a penalty miss against Besiktas in the Champions League last week.
He has provided four assists for his side, but remains goalless from his attacking position.
The 12-time capped Italy international still has three years left on his contract as he looks to move away from his current club.
