Jores Okore wants to fight for his place at Aston Villa after turning down the advances of clubs on the continent, according to a report.

Midlands newspaper The Birmingham Mail claim that the Danish centre-half has been tracked heavily this summer, but has told interested parties that he has no plans to leave Villa Park.

The strong defender signed for Aston Villa from Danish side Nordsjaelland for £4million in 2013 and has featured 42 times for the Midlands outfit.

Okore is said to be looking to a fresh start under new boss Roberto Di Matteo, the man who wanted to bring him to Chelsea before the Villains swooped in for him.

He has also reportedly told friends and family that he is looking forward to the pre-season schedule where he will be aiming to further impress his new manager.

The 23-year-old had a disagreement with former caretaker boss Eric Black in the recently completed domestic season after he refused to sit on the bench for a game with Bournemouth, but the Denmark international is looking to draw a line under the incident.

Okore only featured in 16 matches for Villa during the 2015-16 season and was unable to help the club survive in the Premier League.

In other Aston Villa news, Celtic have submitted a £2million bid for winger Scott Sinclair.
