Riyad Mahrez will join Arsenal in the next few days, according to a report.

Algerian football website La Buteur claim that the 25-year-old winger will sign for the Gunners in the coming days and the north London club are willing to pay the sum of £42million for his services.

It is also claimed that Arsenal and Mahrez have been in discussions over a contract with each other and that the two have agreed terms before the Emirates club have even agreed a fee with Leicester.

The Foxes would make a huge profit on Mahrez, who joined the club for £400,000 from Le Havre in 2014, but it is understood that Ranieri is keen to keep hold of his star man.

The Algeria international was the standout performer for the Premier League champions in their title triumph last season with 17 league goals and 10 assists, while forming a highly productive partnership with Jamie Vardy.

Mahrez has traveled with the rest of his Leicester team-mates to California for the pre-season match against PSG and speculation about his future looks set to continue.

Ironically, Arsenal are also heading to California for a pre-season game against MLS All-Stars on Friday.

Arsene Wenger has managed to strengthen his squad this summer, bringing in youngsters Rob Holding and Takuma Asano, as well as Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka.

Wenger has also told ESPN FC that he is prepared to make a big signing if the opportunity arises.

In other Arsenal transfer news, the Gunners are on red alert after Lyon’s up-and-coming midfielder Corentin Tolisso pulled out of a big money move to Serie A giants Napoli.
