Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi has withdrawn from the France under-21 squad after injuring his foot, according to a report.
French publication L’Equipe claim that the 22-year-old injured his right foot during Villa’s 2-1 win over Blackburn on Saturday.
The highly-rated defender played the full match as Steve Bruce’s side claimed back-to-back home wins.
But as a result of that reported injury Amavi will now miss friendlies against the Ivory Coast on November 10 and the visit of England on November 14.
Amavi has made ten appearances for the under-21s scoring one goal but he is yet to be called up to the senior set-up.
The Frenchman, who missed the majority of Villa’s relegation season last term, injured his knee last November which kept him out of action for up to nine months.
But he has made a positive return to fitness as he has played 11 Championship and EFL games for the Midlands side this season.
Additionally, he has started the last three games under new manager Steve Bruce with previous boss Roberto Di Matteo opting to play Aly Cissokho instead.
In other Aston Villa team news, striker Gabby Agbonlahor has this message to fans after making a substitute appearance against Blackburn.
