Aston Villa are considering suspending Jack Grealish following his latest off-field controversy, according to a report.

The Mail Online claimed on Tuesday morning that the 21-year-old infuriated guests at a Birmingham hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning following his club’s 0-0 draw with Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Now, the Telegraph are reporting that the Championship club are weighing up a suspension of their star player for the weekend’s clash against Newcastle.

It is said manager Roberto Di Matteo has taken a dim view of the England under-21 international’s latest brush with trouble and is considering axing the midfielder.

Grealish has been one of manager Di Matteo’s top performers in the Championship this term scoring two goals and providing one assist in seven games.

It is also reported by the Telegraph that the Midlands side are likely to fine Grealish around £42,000, which is two weeks’ wages.

It was confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account on Thursday morning that they will hold an investigation into the Grealish claims.

In the meantime, Di Matteo has to prepare for a showdown with Rafa Benitez’ Newcastle at Villa Park.

Both sides were relegated from the Premier League during the last campaign, with Villa struggling early on this season picking up eight points from eight games, seven points behind the Magpies who are in third.

In other Aston Villa team news, club legend Peter Withe believes these two attacking duo are the perfect mix.
