Lazio playmaker Ravel Morrison has sparked rumours he could be on his way to Aston Villa by following the club on Twitter.

Morrison, who is contracted to the Serie A club until the summer of 2019, also tweeted a cryptic message ‘Gone with the wind’.

His decision to follow Villa’s official Twitter account has prompted chatter from supporters on social media.

The playmaker was once regarded as one of the most gifted young footballers in the country, but reported attitude problems has seen the 23-year-old’s career take a number of setbacks.

Morrison has only made 70 senior appearances since graduating from the Manchester United academy in 2010.

Villa’s new owner Tony Xia previously stated that the club are on the lookout for a creative midfielder.

The attacking midfielder is contracted to Lazio for another three years but has struggled to settle in Italy following loan spells at city rivals Birmingham, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City.

If rumours are to be true then the Villa supporters will respond with mixed views as his off-field problems can at times overshadow his ability on the pitch.

In other Aston Villa transfer news, midfielder returns to his home country after making a one-year loan switch.
