Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil has agreed to join Spanish outfit Deportivo de la Coruña on a season-long loan with an option to buy, according to a report.
Spanish outlet Deporte Valenciano claim the versatile midfielder will join Deportivo on a season-long loan after days of negotiations with the Midlands club.
It is said the news of the deal between the two clubs will be announced in the coming days as Gil makes a switch back to Spain after more than a year in English football.
The 23-year-old joined Villa from Spanish giants Valencia for a fee of £3.2 million for then-manager Paul Lambert who was sacked a month later.
The tricky winger has struggled for game time since arriving to Villa Park, despite impressing supporters with his technically efficient performances.
After 28 appearances and two goals for the club, the Spaniard has decided to move back to Spain with Marca reporting an option for Deportivo to buy the player at the end of the loan.
The news of Gil’s departure will receive mixed responses from supporters as they will feel he is exactly what the club needs after relegation last term.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, the club have received a mega offer for one of their star players who is attracting interest across Europe.
