Aston Villa have offered Rudy Gestede plus cash for Hull striker Abel Hernandez, according to a report.
The Hull Daily Mail, citing the Times, claim the Championship club have made a bold move in an attempt to land the Tigers’ club record £10 million signing.
Hernandez joined Hull from Italian side Palermo in 2014 for a club-record fee of £10million, but the Uruguayan subsequently struggled in the top-tier of English football as they were relegated into the second-tier in 2014-15.
However, the highly-sought forward notched 20 goals last term as Hull made an instant return to the Premier League via the play offs which has attracted the interest of Villa.
The Midlands club have openly spoken about adding a striker to their ranks after relegation last term which saw them find the net on only 27 occasions.
Gestede scored five goals in his debut season in the top-flight, but now the Benin forward is facing an uncertain future at Villa Park, despite having valuable Championship experience with Blackburn.
French-born Gestede notched up 20 goals for the Ewood Park club before making a £6million move to Villa last summer and signing a five-year contract.
Hull, who currently are without a manager, will want to keep their star striker as they bid to secure safety in what will be a difficult forthcoming Premier League season.
Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is days away from the club’s first Championship game of the season as they prepare for a trip against Sheffield Wednesday on August 7.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, West Ham are ready to hijack their Premier League rivals move for this highly-rated Villa midfielder.
