Celtic have tabled a fresh bid for Aston Villa winger Scott Sinclair, according to a report.

The Sunday Post claim the Scottish giants have submitted an offer nearer the £3million valuation of the Championship club as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to find answers to the humiliating loss to Gibraltar minnows Red Imps.

It is said there is a growing confidence among the parties involved that the new Sinclair bid will be accepted.

As reported by Football Insider, the Scottish Champions had several bids for the pacy winger rejected by the Midlands club.

The 27-year-old was part of the Villa team that was victorious in their pre-season win against non-league opposition on Saturday.

It is said that the possibility of playing European football can be a key decision in the move for Sinclair as he will not be earning the same amount of wages he earns in England than he would at Celtic Park.

A key decision behind Rodgers re-igniting his pursuit of the winger was after their embarrassing 1-0 loss to Red Imps in the Champions League qualifier.

The Northern-Irishman worked with Sinclair during his time at Swansea where he is fully aware of the capabilities of the Villa winger.

The Villains decided to buy Sinclair for £2.5million last summer, and in 27 Premier League appearances, Sinclair scored two goals.

Despite his poor form, Di Matteo is looking to recoup the same price that the Midlands club paid for him last summer and is under no pressure to sell his versatile forward who still has two three years remaining on his contract at Villa Park.

In other Celtic transfer news, Brendan Rodgers has made an approach for a Liverpool stalwart who Jurgen Klopp is willing to sell.
