Everton are tracking Huddersfield attacker Elias Kachunga, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror claim that the Toffees are eyeing the 24-year-old after his impressive performances in the Championship this season.
It is understood that Premier League rivals Watford and Middlesbrough are also interested in the wide man ahead of a summer move.
The report details that Huddersfield have an option to sign Kachunga at the end of the season on a £1.5million deal as he is currently on loan from FC Ingolstadt, but the German may have a decision to make in the summer amid top-flight interest.
Kachunga moved to the Terriers in the summer and has helped the team emerged as serious play-off contenders this season.
David Wagner’s side are third-placed in the Championship and have won their last five games across all competitions.
Kachunga has been critical to the club’s success this season and terrorised Championship defences on the wing.
The German can operate as either a striker or a winger, and has managed to be a goal threat wherever he plays.
He has made 32 appearances this season across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and supplying three assists.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton are beginning to show signs that manager Ronald Koeman has put his stamp on the team and they are seventh-placed in the league table. The Toffees will be keen to improve their squad in the summer to help them compete with the ‘top six’ teams in the division, and an extra winger could be a priority. They are currently lacking wide options and Kachunga certainly has the goal threat that could help the team. He has impressed this season in the Championship and appears to have the qualities that would make him a Premier League player. However, the 24-year-old has not shown much promise during the earlier stages of his career and would be a gamble for Koeman. Everton should be targeting ready-made players that could walk straight into the starting line-up, something that Kachunga would be unlikely to do at Goodison Park.
In other Everton transfer news, the club’s 23-year-old has stalled over a new contract.
