Everton are lining up a £15million January swoop for England goalkeeper Fraser Forster, according to a report.
The Sun claim that Everton manager Ronald Koeman wants to return to former club Southampton to sign the giant shot stopper in the next transfer window.
It is said that Forster, 28, could be attracted to joining the Merseysiders on the condition they look serious contenders to make the Champions League.
Koeman is ready to spend big to sign another goalkeeper even though he brought in Dutchman Maarten Stekelenburg this summer after he spent last season at St Mary’s Stadium.
Stekelenburg has started all five of Everton’s Premier League matches this season as they have defied the odds to take 13 points out of a possible 15.
Koeman’s side maintained their excellent run on Saturday by securing a fourth consecutive win with a 3-1 triumph over Middlesbrough.
The Sun report that the Dutch manager has tried and failed to bring in several goalkeeper targets, headed by Joe Hart.
His interest has cooled on Hart but he also looked at Portugal’s Rui Patricio and Bayer Leverkusen’s Bernd Leno.
Everton would also then sell Spaniard Joel Robles, who is behind Stekelenburg in the Goodison pecking order.
In other Everton transfer news, a £30million attacker has revealed why he didn’t move to Koeman’s team in January.
