Adam Lallana is yet to return to Liverpool training as he faces a race against time to be fit for the Manchester United showdown, according to a report.

The Liverpool Echo claim the Merseysiders still hope the attacking midfielder will be able to feature in the Premier League clash at Anfield next Monday.

But it is said that Lallana’s groin injury remains a source of concern for Jurgen Klopp and his staff.

Lallana suffered the injury in the early stages of Liverpool’s recent 2-1 league win against Swansea, which ruled him out of international duty with England.

Liverpool have not struggled in front of goal in the new campaign, bagging 18 goals from their first seven fixtures.

However, Lallana has been key to the Reds’ attack, assisting three goals and scoring three himself in eight appearances.

Fans of the Merseysiders will be hoping that if he does miss the match that his loss won’t effect the team too much against their fierce rivals, which see’s Klopp’s fourth-placed side take on Jose Mourinho’s sixth-place visitors.
