Aston Villa have failed with a £14.5million bid to sign Serie A midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to a report.
Spanish outlet Deporte Valenciano claim the Bologna teenager has rejected the chance to join the Championship club as he prefers to stay in Italy.
The 19-year-old has also turned down the chance to join Spanish giants Valencia too, but he is keen to remain with his current club.
Diawara signed for Bologna last summer and went on to make 34 appearances for the club as Roberto Donadoni’s side finished a respectable 14th last season.
The Guinea-born midfielder, who is known for his energetic style, attempted 1626 passes last term making him the youngest player in the top five European leagues to attempt 1000+ passes.
It is said that Villa’s £14.5m bid is the highest for the midfielder’s services, but the youngster wants to move to Rome.
However, it is stated given Diawara’s stance at Bologna he cannot rule out a move to England as negotiations for his signature stall.
Manger Roberto Di Matteo is looking to add midfield reinforcements after losing back-to-back games as Villa boss.
The Mirror reported on Thursday after the Midlands side were beaten by Luton Town that the club wanted to sell senior midfielder Ashley Westwood.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, the club are given a boost as they complete a transfer with one-minute to spare.
