Serie A giants Roma are eyeing up another Premier League raid as they target Liverpool attacking midfielder Lazar Markovic, according to a report.

The Serbian has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield after spending last season on loan at Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Italian outlet Gazzetta World claim that Roma are looking to add attacking additions to their squad following the departure of Miralem Pjanic to Juventus, and Markovic is on their shortlist.

The Giallorossi have also been linked with Tottenham’s Federico Fazio, Everton’s Ramiro Funes Mori and Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny as manager Luciano Spalletti has identified the Premier League as his hunting ground.

Football website Goal claim that German giants Schalke are also interested in ending the 22-year-old’s Merseyside nightmare.

It is said Liverpool are willing to listen to offers for Markovic, who joined from Benfica for £20million two years ago and is seen as surplus to requirements .

With manager Jurgen Klopp’s acquisition of Southampton’s Sadio Mane, Markovic has fallen even further down the Anfield pecking order and is unlikely to be given the game-time he wants in the upcoming season.

A loan move could also be feasible for the four-time domestic champion, who still has three years remaining on his Anfield deal.

The former Benfica man made just 11 Premier League starts during his time at Liverpool, and was subsequently loaned to Fenerbahce. A hamstring problem meant though, that Markovic didn’t feature after February and made just 10 starts.

In other Liverpool transfer news, this target is set for a sensational £21m move to the Championship.
