Liverpool are interested in signing Porto midfielder Ruben Neves, according to a report.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claim that the Reds have made contact with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes about a potential transfer.
The report details that Premier League rivals Chelsea have also made enquiries for the player, who has a £36million release clause.
It is reported that Juventus are the other side interested and they have been tracking Neves since 2014.
The Italian giants are currently considering the deal as they look to replace the void left by Paul Pogba, who left for a world-record fee of £89million to Manchester United in the summer.
Neves, 19, is considered an emerging star at Porto and it will take a considerable bid to land the youngster.
The defensive midfielder has made four appearances this season and is battling for a starting role in a competitive squad.
He featured 38 times for his club in the 2015-16 season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in all competitions.
Jurgen Klopp is blessed with several talented midfield options and has settled on a trio of Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson at the beginning of the season.
Emre Can and Lucas are the only defensively minded midfielders and it is an area that Jurgen Klopp could look to improve on in the next transfer window.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Tottenham have joined the race to sign the £30million ace who is a long-term target of the club.
