Liverpool are interested in signing AC Milan defender Mattia De Sciglio, according to a report.
Italian publication Gazette Di Parma report that Jurgen Klopp is keen on the Italy international full-back, who is valued at up to £16.9million.
The Mirror claimed last week that defender Jon Flanagan has been given the green light to join Burnley for a season-long loan, which could leave a vacant defensive spot for De Sciglio.
Flanagan has struggled with injury during his Liverpool career and failed to cement a place in the side last season, although he did feature in the last game of the campaign against West Brom.
De Sciglio plays predominantly as a right-back and would face competition from England defender Nathaniel Clyne for a starting place in Klopp’s side.
The 23-year-old, who is an academy graduate from Milan and has earned 26 international caps, has not played outside of the Italian league since his senior debut.
Klopp will begin his second season as Liverpool manager and aim to improve the club’s eight-placed finish last season, and his squad is beginning to become his own after inheriting Brendan Rodgers’ side half way through last season.
The Merseyside club have already spent close to £70million this summer as Klopp continues his squad overhaul.
Southampton striker Sadio Mane has been the biggest arrival at Anfield so far following his £34million arrival.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Euro 2016 ace is the most likely player to join the club this summer.
