Sheyi Ojo has sustained a back injury and will be sidelined for a month, according to a report.
The Echo report that the Liverpool midfielder has suffered a fracture in his back and is unlikely to feature until mid-September.
This will rule him out of the Merseyside club’s Premier League matches against Burnley, Tottenham, Leicester and Chelsea.
Ojo is also sidelined for the League Cup match against Burton on Tuesday of next week, a match that he would have been likely to have started.
The report details that the 19-year-old missed pre-season games against Barcelona and Mainz after expressing his discomfort and his injury is worse than initially thought.
Ojo was a regular in Liverpool’s matchday squad at the end of last season and showed promising signs with a goal and four assists in his 11 appearances for the club after he was recalled from his loan spell at Wolves in January.
The youngster was brought to Anfield in 2011 from MK Dons, where he was a colleague of current England and Tottenham starlet Dele Alli.
He also played a part in the England Under-19s squad in Germany this summer, helping the Three Lions youth side make the semi-final stages, where they eventually suffered a 2-1 defeat against Italy.
Ojo will face a tough challenge to force his way back into Jurgen Klopp’s side when he returns from injury, after they beat Arsenal 4-3 with some impressive forward play.
Liverpool’s attacking talent shone through as Philippe Coutinho grabbed a brace, with team-mates Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane chalking up their first goals of the season.
