Chelsea are close to signing midfielder Marco Brozovic, according to a report.
The Mail report that Antonio Conte is set to sign Inter Milan’s 23-year-old for a fee of £25million as he aims to add energy and aggression in the middle of the park.
Italian publication Gazzetta World reported that Brozovic could leave Inter this summer and that Liverpool and Arsenal were both interested in the Croatian.
It is said Arsenal and Liverpool both expressed their interest in Brozovic but the London-based Premier League outfit appear to have won the race.
Brozovic has scored eight goals and supplied six assists in 52 appearances while at Inter from a midfield position.
The combative midfielder has also picked up 16 yellow cards demonstrating his physical approach.
Prior to his move to the Serie A giants, he played for Dinamo Zagreb, where he netted 13 goals in 96 appearances for Croatia’s biggest club.
Brozovic featured for his country as they reached the last 16 in this year’s Euro 2016 Championships in France, as his side had been hotly-tipped to go all the way.
Jurgen Klopp still boasts plenty of midfield options despite missing out on Brozovic, with Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho beginning the season in good form.
Central midfielders Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Lucas, Marko Grujic and James Milner are all competing for starting roles.
In other Liverpool transfer news, the club have agreed a playmaker deal after a fee was settled at £4.2million.
