Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho will face a hearing on Thursday over his doping charge, according to reports.

ESPN claim that the centre-back will find out his fate after his case is heard by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Board.

The report cites both The Daily Telegraph and Daily Express who claim that Sakho’s legal team are confident that they have a strong case and that the substance will not be deemed illegal.

The former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back was provisionally banned for 30 days for failing a drugs test in the aftermath of Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Manchester United in April.

Sakho developed himself into an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team this season before his campaign was cut short following the ban, which has now been overturned after UEFA commenced their own investigation into whether or not the fat-burning drug should even be on the banned substances list.

The Merseyside star is no stranger to controvey after sharing a video of a friend smoking a shisha pipe while travelling in the same car as the Liverpool defender.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds have insisted on the insertion of a buy-back clause in the sale of Sergi Canos.
