Liverpool are in hot pursuit of Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi as they step up plans to provide Alberto Moreno with some competition, according to a reliable French journalist.
French publication L’Equipe reported last month that the Merseysiders had held talks with Amavi’s advisers about a summer deal.
Florian Fieschi, a journalist for established French newspaper Le Parisien, has now claimed on his personal Twitter account that “Amavi is in Liverpool’s sights.”

L’Equipe have reported that it would cost around £11million to acquire the services of Amavi, who moved to Villa Park for £8.25m last summer from French outfit Nice.
Villa’s promising full-back, who has four years remaining on his contract, is stepping up his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury which kept him out of the Villa side for the majority of last season.
Amavi, 22, is training fully but is yet to feature for the Midlands club during pre-season, as manager Roberto Di Matteo attempts to rebuild his fitness for the new season.
Liverpool are keen to bring in a left-back, with doubts raised last season over Moreno’s performances. The Spaniard had no competition at left-back last season and the Merseysiders have been strongly linked this summer with reinforcing that part of the team.
Amavi, a former France Under-21 international, showed impressive signs in the 10 Premier League matches he played last season before injury struck in November.
The Villa Park fan favourite impressed supporters with his efficient attacking and defensive performances last term before the injury cut short his season.
In other Liverpool news, fans have reacted on Twitter after a £25m fee was agreed for this Holland international.
